Ist Ataxie erblich?
Genetisch bedingte (hereditäre) Ataxie Ataxien treten bei zahlreichen genetisch bedingten, vererbten Erkrankungen auf. Man unterscheidet dabei die autosomal-rezessive, die autosomal-dominante und die X-chromosomale Vererbung.

Die Spinozerebellären Ataxien stellen eine klinisch und genetisch heterogene Gruppe von Erkrankungen dar, bei denen eine Degeneration von Nervenzellen des Kleinhirns Rückenmarks zugrunde liegt. Das Hauptsymptom ist die Koordinationsstörung von Bewegungsabläufen (Ataxie).

Die Spinocerebelläre Ataxie Typ 1 (SCA1) ist durch eine progressive cerebelläre Ataxie, Dysarthrie und letztendlich bulbäre Dysfunktion gekennzeichnet. Der Erkrankungsbeginn liegt i.d.R. in der 3. bis 4. Lebensdekade, selten in der Kindheit.

Die Spinozerebelläre Ataxie Typ 2 (SCA2) ist ein Subtyp des Typs I der Autosomal-dominanten zerebellären Ataxie (ADCA Typ I; s. dort) und gekennzeichnet durch Stammataxie, Dysarthrie, verlangsamte Sakkaden und, seltener, durch Augenlähmung und Chorea.
