Was sollte man vor dem plasmaspenden essen?
Die optimale Vorbereitung für die Spende ist eine gute Mahlzeit und viel Flüssigkeit. In den letzten zwei Stunden vor der Spende sollte reichlich (fettarm) gegessen und (alkoholfrei) getrunken werden. Vor jeder Spende checken wir Ihren Immunglobulin- (IgG-) und Ihren Hämoglobin- (Hb-) Wert.
Was nicht essen vor Blutspende?
Vor der Blutspende ausreichend essen Nicht mit leerem Magen zur Blutspende! Damit dein Körper genügend Energie hat, iss vor der Blut- oder Plasmaspende ausreichend und kohlenhydratreich. Verzichte aber auf allzu fetthaltige Speisen, denn sie haben einen negativen Einfluss auf die Qualität des Plasmas.

Um den Flüssigkeitshaushalt Ihres Körpers auf die Blutspende vorzubereiten, ist es wichtig, dass Sie am Tag der Blutspende viel trinken – natürlich alkoholfrei. Zudem sollten Sie einen Tag vor der Blutspende keine allzu fetthaltigen Speisen zu sich nehmen. Dies hat Einfluss auf die Qualität des Plasmas.
How are platelet donations done?
Platelet donations are done using a process called automation (sometimes referred to as apheresis). Automation allows us to collect specific components of your blood at a larger volume. For example, one automated platelet donation produces one or more complete platelet doses for a patient.
How long does it take to give platelets?
Giving platelets is similar to blood donation and takes around 2 hours in total. Watch the video to see the process.
What should I do next if I make the switch to platelets?
What you should do next depends on whether you have donated before. Once you make the switch to platelet donation you cannot continue to give blood. If you want to return to giving blood at any point, you will need to stop donating platelets first. Check the criteria on this page to see if we need you as a platelet donor.
How long does an apheresis platelet donation take?
An apheresis platelet donation does take more time in the donor chair – up to two hours compared to the approximately ten minutes it takes to draw whole blood. That is because a special machine must be used.
